Who we are
Chi Alpha is an international Christian campus ministry organization currently chartered on more than 300 campuses nationally, and many locations in nations around the globe.
In New Orleans we have active chapters at Tulane, Loyola, UNO, and Xavier where students gather for worship, friendship, fun ,and for service: faith, community, and action. We are a diverse group from around the country, around the world, and from many different backgrounds: Christian and other.

Matt and Jen DeGier
Directors of Chi Alpha at Tulane University and Chi Alpha New Orleans Team Leaders
Matt and Jen came to New Orleans to get Chi Alpha started in the summer of 2003, after completing a Chi Alpha internship at UL-Lafayette. They are both from the MidWest, originally, and met at North Central University in Minneapolis.
Jen enjoys loving Lucas and Neal, real camping (RVing is NOT camping), sewing, reading on the beach, playing cards, garage saling, foster parenting, and playing in the dirt (gardening). Matt enjoys fatherhood (both permanent and temporary) theology and other nerdy stuff, running and training for obstacle course races, reading, smelling and collecting books, coffee, hiking and culturing dairy foods.
Morgan Smith
Women's Pastor for Chi Alpha at Tulane
Morgan started working on staff at Tulane with Chi Alpha in 2013. She is from Dallas, TX and graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a undergraduate degree in Education in May 2013. Morgan did the CMiT Internship with Chi Alpha August 2013-May 2014 at Tulane University.
Morgan enjoys reading, cooking, decorating, watching movies, having long conversations, shananigans with friends, and crafting.

Hilton Johns
Assistant Director of Chi Alpha at the University of New Orleans
Christine and Hilton are our Campus Missionaries for the University of New Orleans. Christine is from Clovis, NM, but graduated from LSU where she became a student leader in Chi Alpha. She completed the Diversity Project CMiT program and has been the campus pastor at UNO since 2010. Hilton, or more affectionatly known as Bubba, is from Callahan, Fl. He was involved in Chi Alpha at Nicholls State while he served as a local youth pastor.
They both enjoy hiking, camping, horseback riding, anything adventurous in the outdoors, writing, drinking coffee, relaxing in hammocks, and roadtrips, traveling to other countries, and archary.
Deanna Ceasar
Director of Chi Alpha Reaching Xavier University Students
Deanna is working on staff with Chi Alpha at Loyola University as well as reaching out to students at Xavier University inviting them to join our community earnestly following Jesus together. She is from Lake Charles, LA and graduated from Louisiana State University in May 2010. She completed the Diversity Project CMiT program in May 2011.
Deanna enjoys listening to different types of music, singing, traveling, cooking, reading books, watching movies with friends, laughing and trying to make other people laugh.
